?????What is a Credit Union?????

The Credit Union movement originated with the sole purpose of assisting persons in need of financial services.  With this movement the philosophy of "People Helping People" was adopted by every Credit Union throughout the U.S. and the many other countries participating in the Credit Union Movement.

A Credit Union is a member owned, nonprofit cooperative thrift institution formed for the purpose of:

  1. Encouraging savings by offering a good return.
  2. Using collective monies to make loans at competitively low interest rates to members.
  3. Providing other member services on a cooperative basis.

Members are united by a defined field of membership and democratically operate the credit union under state and federal law regulation.

Fellowship Credit Union's field of membership is currently designated to be Prowers County and Kiowa County.  Any person or association of persons that reside or work within Prowers County and reside in Kiowa County are qualified to become a member of the credit union.  Plus immediate family members are qualified to become a member.

After determining if you qualify for membership the next step is to become a member.  All this requires is a deposit of $50 in a share (savings) account.  This deposit is evidence that you are a member of the credit union and entitles you to the services we provide.
